Creating mood with lighting.
I took these photos at a college photography studio. Mood lighting is in all of these photographs, the dark photos make the person in them look bad or angry however the very light ones make the person look happy and sometimes excited.
Rankin.
John Rankin Waddell, is a famous English portrait and fashion photographer. As well as taking portraits he films music videos. Whilst studying accounting at Brighton Polytechnic he decided that his interests were photography so he dropped out. He then studied Photography at Barnfield College, and then went on to London College Of Painting. Rankin met Jefferson Hack, they then built a great working relationship. This then led them to start a magazine together called Dazed & Confused, once they had graduated...
This is one of my favourite Rankin photos, i chose it for many reasons. I really like this picture Rankin took of Cara and Rita because they are two of my favourite celebrities, it really shows there personality, they look professional however they look like there having fun. I think by taking this on a white background they really stand out.

Rankin Photoshoot.
I took these photos in the style of Rankin, I like the dark background as it makes Jordan stand out more, I also like the lighting its made her hair look darker and her face look lighter.
Re-creating a Rankin image
I took this photo to try and look like rankins photo. I took the photo in colour, I then edited it and changed the picture to grayscale.
Rankin cut outs.
This is my response to Rankins cut out photos. i like this style of photography because the photo is quite plain and you can only see abit of the persons face so it shows a bit of their personality.
Andy Warhol.
Andy Warhol was an American artist most of his work was modern art or pop art. He loved photography and art, mostly taking pictures and painting. in his early life he was born in Pennsylvania, he was the fourth child of his family. Warhol's art used many types of media, including hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music. He was also a pioneer in computer-generated art using computers that were introduced in 1984, two years before his death.
I edited these photographs so they looked more like Andy Warhols work. I did this by changing the colours of the photo, this made them look more like pop art.
Using disguise to hide Identity
Akatre
Akatre is a French famous graphic design studio that was built and founded in 2007 by Julien Dhivert, Valentin Abad and Sebastian Riveron, they work in the industry of photography, graphic design, video and typography. They are well known for their different and unordinary work.
In the photos below i tried to recreate akatres work. these are the only photos that turned out well. A plain background is needed to help the person stand out.
Backgrounds.
I took and edited these photos in the style of akatre I put the photo I took on a bright background so it stands out.
Using text and pattern to hide Identity
Nina Charkrabarti.
London based illustrator / Born 1970 Calcutta, India

Ninas work is normal portrait picture of someone but she colours in there eyes to cover their identity. She then uses a variety of different thin and thick, straight and wavy lines. Most of the face is covered so it gives ideas of the models identity but covers it up at the same time.

I tried to do my own version of ninas type of work. I like the forehead because I think it suits where it is on my face and the pattern is neat and stands out from the rest of the face. if I did it again I would improve the eyebrows and cheeks because I don't think the patterns are appropriate and there isn't enough pattern in the cheeks. I think the normal eyebrows should have been left and I should have done something different to complement the shape around them but don't draw on them i would also improve the pattern around my eyes to cover up identity but try to show emotion.
I took a picture of my friend quite close up of her head and shoulders so you could see the features on her face. I like the patterns on the right cheek because I think it complements the shape of the face and looks thick and bold. I also like the arrow going down the nose.
Using text.
Kim Kardashian.
I used a photo of Kim Kardashian off the internet, I then used photo shop to put the words over her face. They are all things that show what she does, what she likes and this shows her identity. For example i found out what she does for a living, family members, what tv programmes she is in, what she does with her spare time, her height and her hometown. The darker writing are things most people would know about her and the smaller lighter ones are things that some people wouldn't know.
Stefan Sagmeister
Stefan sagmeister is a new York based graphic designer and typographer. his work is colourful and creative, he paints and writes on peoples body's and faces. he uses a range of different shapes lines and words.
My Response to Sagmeister
This is my response to the photos i saved off the internet of hands, I edited these photos so they were black and white, I also changed the brightness and contrast so that the background was dark and the hand stands out, this also made the words bold. These tell us about a persons identity because they are thing we like, do and hobbies.
I was inspire by these photos of hands, the black and white makes the writing stand out and the hand stand out from the background. If you read them the words are inspiring.
Documenting hobbies that show Identity
I took these photos, at cheerleading events and training sessions. I tired to take these to capture the moment. i like these as they show what cheerleading is and how hard you have to work to be successful.
I took these photos of my cheerleading trainers and competition bow.
These photos are the typical cheerleader pictures, in these Charlotte looks nice her hair and make up is done well.
